The Haystack Plain forms part of the Brigalow floodplain which is located on the Darling Downs in Queensland. The topography of the Brigalow floodplain is extremely flat (0.2%). During high levels of rainfall beneficial flooding spreads out over the whole area, and has over thousands of years deposited rich fertile soil.
Landholders from the Haystack Plain are world leaders in the adoption of conservation farming practices. Their country is farmed in an environmentally sustainable manner. They have
received national recognition through Landcare awards for their work to adopt ecologically friendly farming practices. The area is uniquely precious as a farmland and this is why the Queensland State Government should rescind this mining development licence.
